Practice Compliance Tasks

The practice has a programme for ensuring key compliance tasks are completed throughout the year, according to the checklist below. The practice manager ensures the key compliance tasks are carried out.

Print the checklist below and record as tasks are completed. Keep for audit and compliance purposes.

All policies and procedures are reviewed and updated as per the GPDocs Review Schedule.

Monthly tasks

Child Protection

Carry out any 3-yearly staff safety checks that are due.

 

Current Review

Complete monthly policy review with the practice team

 

 

Implement any changes to practice procedures.

 

 

Provide feedback to GPDocs if necessary.

 

Practising Certificates

Check that staff practising certificates are up to date.

 

 

Make a copy of any new certificates for staff files.

 

Standing Orders

Check that nurses' standing orders authorisations are up to date.

 

 

Check that all sign-offs, or audits, have been completed as per the practice's policy.

 

 

Review and update any SO that are due to expire.

 

 

Update the Standing Orders Authorisation Register as needed.

 

Staff Reviews

Check that annual reviews for all staff are up to date

 

Staff Training

 

Check that staff training and CPD requirements are up to date.

 

 

Book staff on training courses as needed.

Perform a hazard check of the practice.

 

 

Record all hazards in the hazard register.

 

 

Review risk register.

 

Patient Experience

Participate in PES.

Hold a practice fire drill.

 

 

Debrief with staff to identify issues.

Review hazardous substances register

 

IT Security

Complete the General Practice IT security checklist

 

Medical Emergency Drills

Hold a medical emergency drill at the practice.

 

 

Debrief with staff and identify a plan to correct problems.

 

Medical Equipment Checking

Review and update list of equipment and service/calibration details.

 

Cleaning the Practice

Review and update practice cleaning schedule.

 

Practice Facility Requirements

Go through checklist and ensure all requirements are met.

 

 

Arrange any maintenance needed.

 

Practice Medication Stock

Review stock medication list.
