Business Continuity
Each practice supplies their business continuity plan. |
Policy
We carry out risk analysis and contingency planning to ensure we can continue to deliver health services in the event of an emergency, disaster, or major incident.
Our business continuity plan details how we will operate the practice during the emergency, and also how we can operate in the aftermath of the event.
The plan considers:
- health emergencies, e.g. pandemics
- provision of services through periods of staff shortage or work overload
- disruptions to essential goods and services, e.g. power, water, toilets, PPE gear
- short-term options if we are unable to provide care, such as medical centres, urgent care facilities, or the hospital emergency department
- service options for the longer term, e.g. alternative premises, provision of telehealth, etc.
- sourcing alternative medical supplies and equipment
- protecting staff and patients from the spread of illness.
A current copy of the plan is available off site so it can be readily accessed if needed. Key staff members know how to access the plan both on and off site.
Contact numbers for staff and 
essential services are kept current for use in an emergency.
