Power Outage
In a power outage
- Identify the cause and extent of the power outage, if possible.
- Turn off all electrical equipment to minimise potential hazards once power is restored.
- Follow cold chain national standards to ensure safe storage of vaccines in a power outage.

- Use back-up power sources, if available, to ensure essential equipment can continue to function.
- Contact the practice's electricity supplier for details of the outage and/or to arrange reconnection.
Consider maintaining a 
power-down kit to enable staff to manually process patients during a prolonged power outage.
