Cold Chain Management

Policy

We maintain cold chain accreditation (CCA) in accordance with:

• National Standards for Vaccine Storage and Transportation for Immunisation Providers 2017
• 2021 Addendum to National Standards for Vaccine Storage and Transportation Providers 2017 (2nd edition).

All clinical staff involved with vaccinations have read and signed these documents.

Our immunisation coordinator ensures checks are completed and regular maintenance records are entered in the PMS.

At our practice:

• Designated staff members are responsible for monitoring storage conditions and expiry dates of vaccines.
• Continuous temperature monitoring systems are in place.
• The vaccine fridge has an ongoing annual service plan, and is in good working order.
• There is a process and equipment for safe temporary storage of vaccines in the event of a power outage or fridge failure.

Our MOH Cold Chain Management Policy is reviewed annually, or whenever there is a change of designated cold chain staff, new equipment, or new processes.

All cold chain records are stored for at least 10 years.
