Sharps Safety

  • Dropdown added with guidance about safe location of sharps containers.
  • Practices should make sure they have told us where their containers are located, e.g. on the bench or wall, and where full containers are stored before pickup.

Transferring Patient Records

Sentences added to align with indicator 5.2:

  • "We are responsible for the patient's clinical care until we receive acknowledgement of transfer from the new provider."
  • "All details of the handover process are documented in the PMS."

Isolating Infectious Patients

  • COVID-19 removed from second sentence.
  • Added "When necessary, we screen patients and implement..."

Staff Health and Immunity

Performance Reviews

  • Equity info added to support practices on their equity journey. This is required for Cornerstone, but is also best practice for Foundation practices.
  • More steps added to the review procedure to provide a better explanation.
  • Added step 4 about talking about how the practice's equity journey affects their role, successes, and ideas for more improvement. This is best practice for the health and disability sector.
  • Added step 7 about updating the position description as during performance review is a good opportunity to do this.

Te Reo and Tikanga in Health Care

  • New resources added:
    • MAS: Incorporating te reo Māori in the Workplace
    • Tūtira Mai NZ: Māori Culture and Tikanga Practices for the Workplace.
  • Dropdown added with small steps to increase te reo.
  • Stronger policy statements added:
    • We encourage and support the practice team to use te reo Māori where they can.
    • We expect all staff to strive to correctly pronounce te reo Māori.
    • We support and encourage all attempts to use correct pronunciation.

  • Link added to Performance Reviews page.
